F our people were injured, and thousands of riders had to be evacuated from stalled trains after a Con Edison power failure in Downtown Brooklyn on Wednesday disrupted service on several lines. Thursday morning, some lines were still experiencing service changes.

How will Con Edison's traffic stoppage affect New York City?

The brief traffic stoppage will allow Con Edison crews to install a fiber optic cable above the highway between two towers on either side of the expressway. Traffic traveling eastbound will be stopped near Exit 3 (New York City-Taconic State Parkway-Sprain Brook Parkway).

Will weather affect Con Edison work in Westchester County?

The Thruway Authority emphasized that weather conditions could cause changes to the scheduled work. Motorists traveling on I-287 in Westchester County this weekend are being advised to expect delays as state police hold traffic in both directions for critical Con Edison work.
